Get Your Best Black & Beige Style Inspiration From Stine Steen!
We had a fashion-talk with the stylish & sweet 23-year old Stine Steen! Originally from Oslo, she now lives in San Sebastian in Spain to learn Spanish while writing on her bachelor thesis, as she originally studies Fashion & Management in Amsterdam. Stine feels at her best in an all-black outfit, she has a love for second-hand shopping, and her closet is full of timeless basics. With us, she shares her best fashion advices, where she gets her inspiration from and what she’ll wear in a fashion crisis!
How did your interest in fashion start?
I actually don’t know! But since I was 14/15 years old I have really liked to experience with fashion, and I have worn a lot of different outfits throughout the years.
Can you share your best fashion advices with us?
Some nice accessorize always spice up an outfit! And I also love the trend of belts with pearls and stones. I have used my belts to create a new chain on my purse, but also to change up a dress or to make a pair of pants a little bit more interesting.
Where and who do you get style-inspiration from?
Mostly from Instagram, but also Pintrest. Profiles I really like on Instagram are @rikkekrefting, @annijor, @candidthat, @kristineullebø, @matildadjerf og @wethepeoplestyle.
What do you always bring in your purse?
In my purse I always bring my wallet, headphones, my phone, my keys and eight-hour cream from Elisabeth Arden. And I almost always have either mints or gum.
What’s “good” fashion in your opinion?
This is so hard to answer. I really love basics, and a more “classic” style, but I also love when people have the guts to stand out. For me it is definitely important that fashion is long-lasting, and people who manage to dress inspiring without following trends is in my opinion very “good fashion.”
What do you take into consideration when deciding what to wear for the day?
I always ask myself if I feel good in this outfit? For me it’s all about comfort and feeling confident in the clothing I wear!
What’re your key pieces for a stylish wardrobe?
I am all about a basic wardrobe and buying pieces you can use again and again.
Thus, I always need to have both a black and a white t-shirt, a black blazer, a pair of black suit pants, a pair of comfortable boots and a pair of straight jeans in my closet. In my opinion, if you have these pieces in your closet you can’t go wrong. During autumn and winter, I also love having a long coat as I think it always looks so classic and stylish.
When in a fashion-crisis, what’s your go-to outfit for a…
Party? A black sexy top, a pair of black straight trousers and a pair of comfortable dark boots.
Day at the office? A black t-shirt, a pair of black straight trousers, a black blazer and some comfortable white sneakers.
Saturday downtown? A pair of straight jeans, a comfortable basic sweater and either a pair of white sneakers or a pair of comfortable boots. Lately I have been wearing my dark red cowboy-inspired boots from Zara almost every day!
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Hopefully I work with fashion and sustainability, and on how to create sustainable solutions for fashion brands. Right now, I’m dreaming of a job in Flippa K – their work with sustainability is so inspiring! I also hope I am very happy with my life and that I’m surrounded by the people I love, good food and good coffee.
Can you share with us your favorite…?
Bar: I am way better at bars in Amsterdam than in Oslo, haha! But in Oslo I really like ISM, and in Amsterdam I always end up going to de Ebeling. Such a fun place!
Restaurant: As I have studied in Amsterdam, I have more favorites in Amsterdam than in Oslo. So, in Amsterdam I absolutely love Spaghetteria and went there way to often… and in Oslo I love “Ostefabrikken.”
Lip-gloss: Eight Hour Cream by Elisabeth Arden.
Accessories: My golden earrings from Hvisk and my belt/chain from Zara.
Skin care products: “Emma S Treatment Overnight Repair Mask,” “Emma S Treatment Enzyme Peal,” “Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream,” and “Skin Food by Weleda.”
Clothing brand: Julie & Josephine, Flippa K and Zara. I also love buying second-hand and finding brands I have never heard about before.
City: Oslo, Copenhagen or Amsterdam!
Food: Spaghetti all day, every day.
Music: This is so hard, but Sam Smith always works! And sad but true: I always love it when Pitbull comes on the radio.
